Horse Matt, Rubber Floor Mastic Joint Sealant Enquiry:

I need a joint sealant for rubber matting for my horse stables can you please advisespan>

Answer:

We’ve had this query come up before and the problem with any kind of rubber is always adhesion (i.e. the sealant or adhesive will cure and then debond from the substrate and fail. We did a small trial using the adhesion –promoting primer Mapei Primer FD http://www.sealantsonline.co.uk/Products/Primers-for-mastic-joint-sealants/MAP1183 before applying the high modulus silicone sealant Mapesil AC http://www.sealantsonline.co.uk/ProductGrp/0002002c000b this seemed to work well. The other product that exhibits great adhesion and works well with lots of different substrates is the popular CT1 Sealant / Adhesive http://www.sealantsonline.co.uk/ProductGrp/0002002d0002 Either way, both surfaces should be clean, dry and free from dust & dirt to give it the best possible chance of adhesion when cured. We cannot guarantee this will work, so it’s always best to do a small trial area first. The manufacturers’ technical departments can assist you further should you need it. Common Weather Proofing Mastic Joint Sealant Enquiry:

I have hardwood windows set in a rendered wall, which is south facing and exposed to the worst of the elements.  Consequently I get problems with leaks through the wall/window join.  Can you advise the best product to use to achieve a long-lasting seal.  Thank you.

The best 2 x weather proofing sealants we sell are: Dow Corning 791 http://www.sealantsonline.co.uk/ProductGrp/00020026000c
&
Ottoseal S70 (which comes in lots of different colours and is stain-free on natural stone) http://www.sealantsonline.co.uk/ProductGrp/00020026001d

Sealing Quartz Enquiry:

I need a filler for filling a crack between slabs of quartz worktop. The colour is sandstone in shade.Could you send me a colour chart of suitable sealant or filler.

Answer:

An ideal choice would be to use a stain-free, natural stone silicone sealant such as OTTOSEAL S70 http://www.sealantsonline.co.uk/ProductGrp/00020026001d
There is a ‘Sandstone’ colour available in this particular silicone sealant, but a better choice for sealing cracks and remedial works maybe is to use a Matt finish (non-shiny like standard silicone sealant) which is quite rare and very aesthetically pleasing, sandstone isn’t actually available as a Matt finish as standard (although you can have any RAL colour matched and made in a silicone sealant within 3 x weeks) but a near perfect stocked, standard colour is Matt Jasmine.

You can view our colour cards either on this website here: http://www.sealantsonline.co.uk/Products/Mastic-Sealant-Colours Or, for a more comprehensive catalogue of colours, on our main company website here: http://www.countyconchem.co.uk/sealant-colours-page-1.html

I’m looking at your “Adshead Ratcliffe Arbokol 1025 SP (Swimming Pool) Epoxy Sealant” x 1.2L. Can you confirm the volume of void that this will fill please.

Answer:

Thanks for your enquiry. It’s an impossible question to answer without knowing joint sizes (i.e. width & depth) Here’s a link to a handy calculation table to give you an idea. --- SEALANT-CALCULATOR --- You’ll need the 2nd page for tins, (e.g. if the joints are 10mm x 10mm, then you’ll get approx. 10m per litre of mastic sealant)
